Medical Consequences of Being Single
(The most lethal risk factor for men)

Years ago James Lynch, an epidemiologist from the Maryland School of Medicine, conducted research and wrote a book entitled, The Medical Consequences of Loneliness. In the study involving millions of people, Dr. Lynch analyzed the marriage, divorce, and death statistics in the United States. He concluded that men who never marry or who lose their mates from death or divorce and do not remarry will die more 13 and ¼ years sooner than men who are married. No other risk factor will shorten a man’s life more than being single; but you almost never hear about being single as a risk factor for premature death.

Dr. Lynch found that women who never marry or who lose their mates from death or divorce and do not remarry will die 3 and ½ years sooner than women who are married. There was nearly a 10 year difference between the death rates for men and the death rates for women.  Being single shortens a man’s life much more than it does a women. Where the good book says it is not good for man to be alone, it must mean men more than it does women. Still for both men and women, I believe We are, each of us angels with only one wing; and we can only fly by embracing one another. --Luciano de Crescenzo.

Related to the need for love is the study of babies in orphanages that would die if they were not held, caressed, and touched and loved. We all need to be loved and just as important; we all need someone to love. Mother Teresa put it this way: There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread. Related to the need that everyone has to be loved (or just recognized) is the following internet treasure that you should see.

Internet Treasure

I believe that I have read about as many Emails and articles on the internet as anyone. Below is the loveliest and most heart warming message I’ve seen. See: Who I Am Makes A Difference at

You, the people on our mailing list, have made a profound difference in our lives. My wish is that I could pin a blue ribbon on each of you. We would especially like to hear about your success or failure in finding answers and solutions for your pain.

Your Government is Looking Out For Your Health

The AIRBORNE Company, that has been marketing a product consisting of vitamins and minerals to protect you from catching colds, was recently required to pay a 23.3 million dollar fine in a lawsuit by the Federal Trade Commission. No evidence was presented that the AIRBORNE product didn’t do what it was advertised to do. The Airborne people were found guilty for making medical claims. Whether or not the claims were true was not the basis for conviction. The charge of making false and misleading medical claims and the determination of guilt was made by FTC attorneys, not by people with medical training.  Attorneys and our courts, not medical doctors, are making medical decisions for you.

As the law stands today, the FTC can silence and destroy anyone who makes health or medical claims. The FTC does not have to provide any evidence of guilt; for them to charge, convict, fine, and financially destroy anyone they choose. Our U.S. Courts now enforce a tyranny where defendants are not innocent until proven guilty but are guilty from the outset with no evidence of guilt. Defendants are prohibited from future selling of the goods in question with fines imposed that are as much as the total cost of the goods sold - an almost impossible thing to do. Then if the fine is not paid, it can be increased as much as 56% annually on the unpaid balance. This action by the FTC guarantees that the accused will be in debt to the government for the rest of their lives, and will not do business again.

In health care matters, we no longer have the freedom of being innocent until proven guilty – a God given right that is as American as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Congressman Ron Paul has introduced a bill to restore that freedom.  If you want freedom in health care matters and you do not want FTC attorneys to make your health care decisions, support House Bill H.B. 2117.  The bill restores the presumption of innocence for defendants (in health care matters) and requires a burden of proof by the plaintiff. Below are some thoughts about the love that we should all give
and hopefully receive (if we are so blessed):

Someday, after we have mastered the winds,
the waves, and tides, and gravity, we will harness for God the energies of love;
then, for the second time in the history of the world,
man will have discovered fire. -- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

We do not sing because we are happy, we are happy because we sing.
-- William James

We do not serve because we love, we love because we serve.
 -- Darrell Stoddard

You do not love someone because of what they do for you,
but because of what you do for them. -- Darrell Stoddard
You will never know what love is
until you love someone enough to die for them,
and you'll never love someone enough to die for them,
without first serving them.  — Darrell Stoddard

You can even love your enemies and those who despitefully use you,
If you pray for and do good to them. – Darrell Stoddard

There is no love without service and no happiness without love.
Service is the key that unlocks the door to both happiness and love.
— Darrell Stoddard
