A Healing Miracle
(from relentless pain in the abdomen caused
by a
root canal)
by Darrell Stoddard, Founder - Pain Research Institute
Fifteen year old Catherine
Malquist appeared in every way to
be mentally
retarded and spastic. Before this inscrutable pain had come into her
life
she was a normal, happy teenager. When I first saw this pitiful child,
she was lying on the examination table writhing in pain and making the
sound "uh uh, uh uh" about once every second. Then when she got up on
her
crutches and tried to walk, her motor functions were totally spastic. I
thought of Lorenzo in the movie Lorenzo's Oil.
Sitting Catherine on a chair was
difficult because she
stiffened her
back and arched out straight, continuing to make the strange sound
while
moving from side to side because of the pain. This was April 26, 1994.
Then I learned that before January of that year, Catherine was a
perfectly
healthy 15 year old, and definitely not retarded or spastic. This
strange
affliction had continued every waking moment for four months without
ceasing.
Catherine had been to a medical
school hospital and a
children’s' medical
center where she was examined by internists, gastroentenologists,
endocrinologists,
neurologists, psychiatrists etc. Many tests were run and nothing was
found
to explain her strange condition. They even suggested that it might be
because her mother wouldn't let her wear makeup. Catherines' response
was,
"I've got a whole drawer full of lipstick. Who cares about makeup when
you hurt this bad!"
After the medical center and
children’s hospital were
through with all
of the tests and Cathrine had seen all of the doctors, Catherine was
told
by a psychiatrist, "There is nothing wrong with you. You’re just making
that noise to get attention. Now stop it!"
Catherine's parents knew those
who had examined Catherine
were wrong.
Blaine and Norma Malquist, the same as "Lorenzo's" parents, would not
give
up. That wonderful love parents have for sick children brought them to
me. My efforts to relieve her suffering were futile, but as providence
would have it, I had just finished reading the book Root Canal
Coverup
by George Meinig, DDS.; so I asked the Malquists if Catherine had ever
had a root canal. Both parents eyes lit up, they looked at each other
and
almost in unison said, "YES, That's it!" Catherine had received a root
canal in December with all kinds of complications, but Blaine and Norma
had never connected the seemingly unrelated events. I shared with them
the medical discoveries of Weston Price and his team of research
scientists,
which have been covered up or forgotten for 70 years and now
reintroduced
by Dr. George Meinig, one of the 19 founding members of the American
Association
of Endodontics.
It is estimated that in each
tooth there are more than three
miles of
tiny microscopic tubules which normally carry nutrients to all parts of
the tooth and are thereby responsible for keeping the tooth alive and
healthy.
Once infection enters the root canal because of severe tooth decay, the
bacteria involved enter these tubules and find them an ideal place to
grow
and multiply.
When such a root canal infection
occurs and a root canal is
performed,
the tooth loses its blood supply and the person's immune system can no
longer protect them from the organisms involved in these infections. It
was assumed that once the root canal was treated and filled that the
bacteria
in the tubules would die off, or even if not, they would have no way of
escaping. Now we know that they do not die off but mutate and change
form
becoming even more toxic. These pleomorphic bacteria and virus then
multiply
in an uncontrolled fashion and escape through the lateral accessory
root
canals and through the tooth's protective covering, the cementum. These
infectious organisms and toxins then migrate via the bloodstream
through
the body causing many of the inexplicable diseases we now see.
If you want to solve some of the
most difficult (and also
common) health
problems, you must read Dr. Meinig's book. It is available for $19.95 +
$2.50 for U.S. shipping from Bion Publishing, 323 E. Matilija 110-
151,SD,
Ojai, CA 93023. If you make a judgement on root canals without reading
Dr. Meinig's book, you may be missing some of the most important
medical
discoveries of the century. Ask your CFIDS and/or fibromyalgia patients
if they have ever had a root canal. It will surprise you.
A sympathetic Dentist, Doctor
Mervin Gardiner, was called
upon to extract
Catherine Malquist's suspect root canal tooth. A piece of the tooth was
then surgically implanted under the skin of a rabbit to see if the
rabbit
would develop the same malady (as Doctor Weston Price and his research
scientists had done thousands of times). The rabbit did not seem to get
sick initially and the incision where the tooth had been implanted
healed.
Then after a period of time the rabbit developed a large abscess and
expelled
the piece of tooth through the skin. The rabbit had such a strong
immune
system it was able to eliminate the piece of tooth before the rabbit
became
ill.
Catherine improved slightly and
then got worse. She now
could not even
stand to have clothing touch her from her shoulders down to the bottom
of her abdomen and she would scream if she was touched. This made it
impossible
to take her into a public clinic, but the Malquists' would not be
deterred.
They found a lady acupuncturist who had a back door where they could
take
their daughter without exposing her to the world. Catherine received 28
or 29 acupuncture treatments, and then one morning in August woke up
miraculously
healed. No human being could ever go through much more and live. To see
the little girl, who had suffered so much, now serene and quiet with a
smile as big as life, is one of the most beautiful things I shall ever
see.
The above case provided no easy
answers and no easy
solutions. The rabbit
did not get sick and Catherine did not get better when the root canal
tooth
was removed. The infection, apparently viral and undetected by all of
the
medical tests that were done, was so virulent that it must have
overwhelmed
her immune system even after the source of the infection was removed.
The
important thing is that a beautiful child so pitifully stricken and who
Dr. Gardiner said probably couldn't have survived another month is
completely
well five years later.
We have published the story to
bring hope to the thousands
who are chronically
ill and who have found no answers. Before the days of antibiotics it
was
almost standard procedure to pull all of the teeth of anyone who was
seriously
ill for unknown reasons. This often brought a cure. Today we save all
of
the teeth no matter what. And we have thousands of patients who
are
chronically ill that no one can help. Are we really better off?
And how
many people who are chronically ill could be helped?
Some patients with root canals
can still be helped short of
extracting
the root canal teeth. Karen Anthon, a young mother, came to me after
spending
more than $100,000 trying to get relief from migraine headaches,
chronic
TMJ and neck pain. Three surgeries on her jaw, several root canals,
caps,
bridges, splints and dental procedures too numerous to mention, had
left
Karen with a mouth that would not open straight and then only with
pain.
Oral Surgeons and Neurologists had run all of the tests and then told
her
in so many words that the mechanics of her jaw were now perfect so her
pain must be psychological.
With the first Bioelectric and
Auricular treatment, Karen’s
jaw popped
open and her eyes got big. The pain was gone. With three more
treatments
she felt she was completely healed and came back six months later to
show
me. Since then the condition has returned three times but each time,
one
treatment makes it better. Because Karen has multiple root canals, she
may never recover completely, but almost total relief for extended
periods
is available.
